Introducing Lindner and Sommerauer Biomass Boilers!

Published: September 01 2014

Welcome to the new Wye Valley Energy website. We hope you find what you are looking for and hope to have the chance to talk to you about your biomass boiler project.

Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the biomass boilers that we supply and install in the Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, North Gloucestershire, Powys and Monmouth areas.

One of the main biomass boilers that we have sold to date has been the Lindner and Sommerauer range.

About Lindner and Sommerauer

Founded in 1991 by Hermann Lindner and Christian Sommerauer, Linder and Sommerauer have been producing some of the most innovative biomass boilers for over twenty years.

Their head office and manufacturing centre is in Upper Austria, widely regarded as the European centre of excellence for biomass boilers. Today, they export across Europe and have grown to become one of Europe’s market-leading biomass boiler manufacturers.

Here at Wye Valley Energy, we sell the Lindner and Sommerauer SL50/150kW and the SL199/250kW models. We even heat our offices with a 50kW Lindner and Sommerauer biomass boiler, which is fuelled by wood grown and chipped on site.

Both of these biomass boiler models come with a five year warranty on all electronic controls and wearing boiler parts and are capable of burning either wood chips or wood pellets. The fuel delivery system can be on either the left or right hand side of the boiler, which offers great flexibility as to where the boiler can be located.

The boilers offer some of the highest heating efficiencies available. Fuel delivery is automated via an up to 15m auger and up to 6m agitator for wood chips or a vacuum-fed system for wood pellets which can run over lengths of up to 1.2m. In other words, the Linder and Sommerauer boilers don’t require a hands-on approach in fuelling.

In fact, we recommend that the biomass boiler’s fuel store be built as large as possible. It should be sized so that it only needs refilling three to four times a year to enable you to bulk buy at the best price and save you time with only a few fuel deliveries a year. With our help you can select the perfect space and location for the store room, even if it’s underground.

Biomass boilers in the SL range are very easy to maintain as their heat exchangers feature a self-cleaning system. There are four rows of vertical cylinders inside the SL50/150 and 6 in the 199/250. Inside each cylinder is a sprung, moving turbulator which moves up and down and scrapes any deposits from the surface, dropping them into the ash bin beneath. This prevents the build-up of efficiency-reducing deposits on the heat exchanger surface and ensures the maximum transfer of heat.

Due to high combustion efficiencies, only 0.5-1% ash is generated per volume of fuel.  The ash is then transferred into easy to remove bins and can be an ideal fertiliser due to high levels of nitrates present.

Not only do Linder and Sommerauer biomass boilers offer a safe and easy approach to refuelling and cleaning, but their operating systems are sleek and modern. They have effectively combined decades of knowledge with a modern touch screen monitor for ease of use.  The electronic control panel is based on a modern, modular design and allows easy control of 16 individual heating circuits within the boiler system.

In a world with rising costs for fossil fuels it is clear that the Linder and Sommerauer boilers are an efficient, cost effective and easy to use alternative green energy. They are also very kind to the environment, offering an up to 98% CO2 saving versus fossil fuels, according to the Biomass Energy Centre. Having one of these boilers installed at our offices, we can personally say that we believe biomass to be the heating alternative of the future.

Please get in touch to talk to us about your biomass boiler project or to arrange a visit to see how well our own SL50 is working.
