How to Increase Your Chances of RHI Accreditation
Published: September 26 2014

Wye Valley Energy is a company based in Leominster specialising in the supply and installation of biomass boilers in the Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, North Gloucestershire, Powys and Monmouth area.
While biomass boilers have been around for decades they have recently grown in popularity following the introduction of the Commercial RHI in 2011 and the Domestic RHI, which launched in April 2014.
Through these two schemes, the government is offering a tariff paid to users of biomass energy dependant on the kilowatt/hour their boiler produces and whether it is to be used in a domestic or non-domestic situation.
The purpose of the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme is to help the UK reduce greenhouse gases and meet targets for the 2020 reduction of emissions by 20%.
Not every biomass boiler will qualify for the RHI Scheme, however. When buying a boiler you must keep in mind that the biomass boiler’s emissions must be under 30g/Gj for particulates and 150g/Gj nitrogen oxide.
Wye Valley Energy Limited offers three biomass systems with emissions that have been tested as below these maximum limits; Lindner & Sommerauer, Guntamatic and Effecta.
Producing biomass systems with 96% efficiency combined with rigorous quality management systems, Guntamatic has become a leading manufacturer of biomass boilers with sales in 17 different countries.
Wye Valley Energy offers six different systems from Guntamatic; Biostar12-23kW wood pellet boiler, Biocom 30-100kW Wood Pellet Biomass Boiler, BMK 20-50kW log boiler, PRO 175-1,000kW wood chip and wood pellet boiler, Powercorn 30-75kW gain and wood pellet boiler and the Powerchip 20-100kW, which runs on wood chips, wood pellets, grain or miscanthus.
All of the Guntamatic boilers we offer have emissions that have been measured as significantly below the maximum emissions set out as a requirement for the RHI scheme. You can see the certificates here;
Guntamatic; Biostar12-23kW (Wood Pellets)
Biocom 30-100kW (Wood Pellets)
PRO 175-1,000kW (Wood Chips and Wood Pellets)
Powercorn 30-75kW (Grain and Wood Pellets)
Powerchip 20-100kW (Wood Chips, Wood Pellets, Grain or Miscanthus)
In addition, we offer the Lindner & Sommerauer range of Austrian biomass boilers, both of which burn wood chips or wood pellets and they are ideal for robust and rugged applications. There are two boilers in the range, the SL 50/150kW and the SL 199/250 and Wye Valley Energy’s offices and the farm house at Humber Court Farm are heated by a 50kW system running on wood sourced and chipped from the farm land.

Wye Valley Energy also offers the Effecta Lambda Log Boiler and the Effecta Komplett III Wood Pellet Biomass Boiler for domestic applications.
Effecta has three decades of experience in producing zero carbon technologies. With this experience comes quality, shown by the care Effecta takes in selecting locally sourced materials whenever possible.
All of the biomass boilers produced by Effecta are eligible for the RHI scheme have emissions seriously below the new air quality standards. You can see the certificates here;
